The Maritime Heritage Conference – In Review is comprised of eighty pages reflecting the presentations given at the Eighth Maritime Heritage Conference, October 2007 — the first ever held on the West Coast, and hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

It was truly an international event with Britain's Lord Ambrose Greenway arriving onboard the SS Lane Victory. The following day, Lord Greenway presented the vessel's captain with the World Ship Trust Award during Opening Ceremonies. Articles from British, Dutch and Russian scholars reflect the breadth of the Conference. From the President Emeritus of the National Maritime Historical Society to our nation's top military historian and former NASA historian, Dr. Alex Roland, the Conference was a highly synergistic gathering aboard our museum ships, offering one of the most unique settings for any conference. Articles range from Historic Ship Preservation to restructuring museums, underwater archaeology in the Caspian Sea, The First Mariners of the New World, Historic Naval Ships, Lens restoration in Lighthouses, the Golden Age of Yachting and restoring classic yachts.

John Stobart's superb painting titled, "Maiden Lane, circa 1800," graces the front cover, capturing the essence of the Conference – to research, preserve and cherish our maritime heritage.
